Vintage Wedding Invites

Creating caricature vintage wedding invites to make your wedding totally unique.

For our own wedding we got married in the fabulous French venue, Chateau Guilguiffin in Brittany, near Quimper. We hired out the Chateau for the week and given the keys to the place. This really made us feel like Lord and Lady of the manor for our big day.

To reflect this feel, we went for a vintage themed wedding with a comic twist.

For the vintage wedding invites I did caricatures of us, dressed up in regal gear to set the tone for whats to come. We sealed each invitation with a wax seal using my signet ring, which coincidentally was a similar crest used at Chateau Guilguiffin.

For the vintage wedding invites I also hand drew a map giving directions to the venue. The map also contained a top 6 things to do in the area. As most guests will have travelled far and wide to get the our wedding we thought that would be a nice touch to give them a guide of the area.

Following the wedding invitations I designed the table plans and order of service booklets to match the style.

Ingrid added her own touches of style with hand crafted clothes pegs styled as us, for each guest… 150 of them! She also sourced 20 teapots for decoration and got the florist to garnish them with loads of wild flowers.

The result was a stylish vintage wedding, mixed with the mad hatters tea party!

We loved the wedding planning so much and discovered so many amazing venues, it also spurred us on to create the Chateau Bee. First of all we became French wedding planners, organising weddings for English speaking couples all over France. Then, a few years down the line, we turned more into an agency, sourcing the very best wedding venues in France and then showcasing them on our website.

I myself have continued to do wedding invitations for couples. I love getting to know each couple and creating something truly unique to them for their wedding day. The whole process is a real privilege to contribute to a couples most important day of their lives. Discover more of my wedding invites here.

From the start till now it has been a fantastic and rewarding experience. Vive la France!
